Broth was delicious. Noodles were nice with a little firmness. Service was good. Tempura breading was a little heavy. Worth a trip if your in Tokyo.
Amazing Udon, good selection between hot and cold dishes. Sides are tasty. If you cannot go to Takamatsu for your Udon, this is probably where you want to eat them in Tokyo. Be ready to wait in line, for about 30 minutes during lunch time. There is no bathroom inside the restaurant.
I had their raw egg udon and fish cake tempura. Excellent udon! The queue was not bad people eat fast. This place is not near anywhere touristy so prepared to travel. Also no English menu but they can speak a little bit of English so we were able to order without any troubles.
Fast friendly service, good udon.Get here at open or be prepared to wait.I got in with no wait around 6pm, and by the time I inhaled my food and left there was a line 10 people deep. It's a small place, elbow to elbow, but it's custom here; you'll be fine. Enjoy your food, and leave. 😅
Slightly hard to find off the main streets, but what a gem. The menu is only in Japanese, so bring along a smart phone with the Google Translate app and use this to decipher the menu. I ordered something I wasn't sure, but man oh man was it a pleasant surprise. I feel as though anything you could possibly order would have been incredible. The service was quick, the workers spoke no English and I was the only non Japanese person there. Can it get any more authentic? The noodles were so soft and lush, the soup was tasty and the meat was soft and tenderizing to the soul. Such a good way to warm up on a cold night.
Really great udon. Huge portions of everything. I got the kitsune and it was just covered in tofu. Like a delicious blanket.
without much thinking, I had first bite on udon noodles. How chewy the noodles are! WoW! Soup was also great. Unlimited crunches you can put in. I had 1.5 more of regular portion for 60 yen more. You can't beat that! I got there before 11 and waited about 5 min. Although locals slurped the dish so fast, I took my time and enjoyed every bite of it. Highly recommend it!
great udon at a very reasonable price
This was one of the best meals we had during our 2 weeks in Japan and also one of the cheapest. We only waited around 15 minutes. The noodles were incredible and so was the tempura. I was impressed by how quickly the locals slurped their bowls down and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of mine. Definitely recommended, whether or not you're on a budget.
I am difficult with food generally, but I can enjoy good noodles everyday, everywhere! I can even brave it to a good miso soup and of course, sea food and fish and rice-based dishes. Good value for money.
Cheap and good udon! No English menu but the staff can speak some English.
The one that has the oyster was very delicious. I would recommend to get them! Although the place is small for foreigners with large suitcase or just large in body size! Plus it’s a busy location, everything was fast pace and I didn’t see much English so I’m guessing there not friendly towards foreigner!
Very delicious! And we were surprised when we arrived. Still lining up at 13:30. But it only took a while for waiting.
Great udon and friendly staff even with a Japanese only menu
I love love love this place. I'll stop here every time I'm in Tokyo. Take care as the menu is Japanese only. Oh and be courteous as to how long you take to eat: they move people through quickly. There are usually people waiting!
No English menu and very busy and crowded. But if you go knowing what you want and what to expect, you can have a very pleasant experience. We had the niku udon and were very pleased with what we got. Although we wish we knew what other dishes were available to try
Delicious udon
Chikuwa - fish cake is great topping. Great udon bug can be more soft.
Chanced upon this udon noodle shop as I was walking back to my hotel at 5.30pm, saw the high ratings n there wasn't any crowd so I was pretty curious to try. Must say that the beef udon was delicious n the huge prawn tempura is one of the best I have ever tried. It's light n crispy, the prawn is a big prawn which definitely costs alot more at upmarket restaurants.
Will go again.Soup first tasted a bit salty yet it was perfect after putting in some fried thingy in front of you at the table.Thier fried shirimp was just amazing.
Does not have reliable opening hours
Excellent udon, very affordable. Long line but it moves really fast. They run out of tempura fast, but soup is still good without it. Highly recommend
The queue will be huge and full of locals because it is actually pretty small. But it passes quickly since people eat fast and with the usual Japanese efficiency. In any case you will not regret the wait time. This place is a MUST TRY if you love Udon. Also try their tempura. It's worth it, and the prices at insanely affordable.
Udon was ok, honestly nothing to write home about. This place had a long line of locals but I think the price was the main attraction as it was relatively cheap – roughly ¥600 for a bowl of udon in the heart of the CBD. No English menu but you can definitely get by without. I unfortunately had a very long, pubic-like hair in my food which the waitstaff were very sorry for but the kitchen staff seemed pretty blasé about. They replaced the soup but I still paid full price for my meal. I probably wouldn’t wait nor recommend going out of your way for this as a tourist. The cheap and cheerful standing udon places will serve your craving just as well and it might save you a run-in with (please let it be) an armpit hair.
Noodles thick enough to please Godzilla. Super fast service outside of peak hours. Having tried the Beef Noodles with Shrimp Tempura, I’d have waited happily. Will be returning here before leaving Tokyo. Highly recommend.
This is fast food Japanese at its finest. Be prepared to queue, but the line moves fast because the patrons eat and run. However, the real winner here are the noodles. Soft and chewy and cooked to perfection. Add on the price (500 yen for kamatama), and it’s one of the best deals going. Highly recommend.
Really delicious. We tried the hot and cold Udon, Tempura is really good as well. Frequented by locals, nice experience. Fast food style come and go.There is no english menu.
Probably the only place on earth that you can have Udon and Hendrix at the same time (and both GREAT)
Tasty authentic sanuki udon😋
Easily my favourite udon in Tokyo, really really good, I’m still thinking about it!
Truly exceptional food and caters to vegetarians! The Tsukimi Udon with a side of vegetable tempura was the best meal I've eaten in 5 weeks in Japan
Good local place with very reasonable prices
No words needed. Come enjoy. Seeweed udon was fantastic
Came here around 6pm on Tuesday. Only four people were waiting in front of me, so the wait was about five minutes or so. Thr udon was very chewy and hard to bite off. Tempura had seasonings so no salt was needed. Very high quality for the price.
Good place with fixed options. All in japanese so bring your translator prepared. Only cash
There is often a line but people move in and out fast enough that it won't matter (10-15 min tops for a party of 2). The menu is pretty simple but the food is hardy and tasty. Prices are affordable and fair, which I find rare in Tokyo.
Great place to get udon in Tokyo! The texture is chewy and soup is delicious.
The udon here was fantastic. It was one of the best ramens I had in Japan the 3 weeks and 20+ ramens I chowed down on. It was a 10/10 for sure. If you wanna go, make sure you plan for a little bit of a wait because the line is out the door and deservedly so.
I had the Calpis butter udon and a shrimp tempura for lunch (had to wait but the line moves fairly fast). It was good but I don’t understand why so many people think it’s amazing. Maybe because of the reasonable price? Probably worth it if you’re in the area and want udon. No English menu, I guess they have enough customers with the people working in the area.
Arrived on Saturday 1130 and waited half an hour. The hot udon (かけうどん) is simple but elegant! Definitely worth the price for 440 and the wait. The soup is tasty and the udon itself is chewy~ it’s voted as the best udon noodle restaurant on tabelog. Recommend to try’s
This was the best udon I have ever tasted. Udon noodle are super fresh and cooked perfection. Broths are elegant and delicious. Great restaurant.
Friendly service. Very fast queue. They bring menus out so you can choose before getting inside (menus are only in Japanese, but Google translate worked well). We got the Beef udon. Noodles were perfectly chewy and the broth was sublime.
Absolutely the best udon place in Tokyo!
Udon Maruka remains one of the best reasons to wait in a line for food in Tokyo.
O my gosh. Japanese people also said that it was the best udon in the city
Noodles are a great deal for $6 but they were overcooked. The outside was so soft that it was sloughing off but luckily the inside was chewy and thick.
This place was next level, and it cost as much as eating fast food stateside
Delicious udon shop that plays Jimi Hendrix while you eat. The menu is Japanese only although there is some English by the door. The English just gives you the names of the dishes though, no descriptions of what it actually means. I went on Google Reviews and just pointed at pictures of what I wanted. The line moves quickly as people tend to eat and then go. Would recommend the beef udon - the broth was so tasty!
Had a queue but it was quick. The dry udon (tsuke udon) was amazing. Popular side dishes are the prawn and chicken which is the best!
